PAINTING HOLIDAYS
At the holiday workshops we try to ensure that you will have a great time learning new techniques and meeting new friends. We
are dedicated to helping you improve as a painter in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
I try to help you develop your own style, rather than just have you copy what I do but it is important that you like the way I paint
so have a look at the gallery. If you like what you see then I’m sure you will enjoy the workshops.
You will need your own painting materials although we do have a little shop on the workshops in Ireland that can supply you with
materials at prices comparable to internet art shops. All levels of experience are very welcome but you are advised to have at
least some basic knowledge, gained from other classes, books or videos.
Read the information for each workshop carefully. Overseas workshops usually include accommodation and meals and often
include seats and easels whereas local workshops usually do not. I have a few seats and easels available for those travelling to
local workshops by air but you must reserve them when booking. Price ranges refer to shared or single occupancy for painters as
well as the size of accommodation in some cases. Non-painting partners receive a substantial discount on these prices
Workshop times and details vary a little depending on the organisers but each day begins with a demonstration lasting around 90
minutes. After this you are free to choose your own subject for painting or if you prefer you can use the subject demonstrated. I
spend the rest of the day helping and advising each participant. Occasionally there may be a second demonstration. If it rains we
have an indoor studio to let us continue our painting. On residential trips we may have a daily critique before dinner which gives
us the opportunity to see what the others have painted. Some of the workshops will have painting locations that require a few
minutes walk, possibly on slopes and uneven ground whereas others take place in or beside a studio which may be better suited
to those with limited mobility. Please contact me first if you need more information.
