You know how learning to paint seems straightforward in theory but doesn’t go so well in practice? Or maybe you have experience but the result doesn’t always follow what is in your mind? Maybe you see a beautiful subject and think I’d like to paint that but when you try, it turns out that it’s not as easy as you had hoped? Well, I’ve been there too. I can remember looking at my paper covered in paint and thinking “Oh dear, what happened there.” That was over 35 years ago and for the past 25 years I have been teaching watercolour workshops all over the world to all levels. I have written three books with Search Press, been involved in several others, created DVDs, have a successful YouTube channel and I am a regular contributor to The Artist and Artists and Illustrators magazine. During these years my paintings have been awarded many local, national and international prizes. Watercolour isn’t easy but I can help to keep you on the right side of that fine line between success and disaster, as well as showing you how and why watercolour is the most beautiful and satisfying of the painting mediums. It can still go wrong of course (as it often does) but that is all part of this exciting world of watercolour. What you will learn Each online course contains everything you will need to progress as a watercolour painter. The only thing you need to add is committment and practice. There are many “styles” of watercolour painting and it is important that you share my enjoyment of what I call loose realism. Have a look at my paintings on this website. If you like them then I’m sure you will enjoy the courses. What level of experience is needed? Courses will vary but each will have a full description of what is involved along with the level of experience (if any) required. There is even a free mini course designed for complete beginners. Why not try this to get a feel for how it all works. Just click on the button at the top of the page. Courses vary in price depending on the content but are comparable to my “live” workshops, without the expense of travelling and accommodation. When you pay for a course you have unlimited access to it on your computer, tablet or smartphone so you can watch anytime, anywhere and as often as you like. Courses will be constantly updated to take account of such things as student feedback and changes to materials. Full details are on my dedicated online course site. Just click on the button at the top of the page.

I’m not performing miracles. I’m using up and wasting a lot of paint Claude Monet
